Wales 2013
Through my volunteering at the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Stara Zagora I was offered an amazing opportunity to be actively
involved in the Breeding and Release program for the reintroduction of the Saker Falcon back into the wilds of Bulgaria. For me this is a dream
job, I never would have imagined working in this kind of environment when I left the UK, remember I had no interest in nature prior to my move to Bulgaria. This is the kind of chance that changes lives. The downside was that I would need to spend three months from March to June in Wales to do
intensive training in breeding Falcons. My training would be done at the International Wildlife Consultants facility in Carmarthen owned by Dr Nick Fox, a highly respected figure in the Falcon breeding society. I managed to get very little time off during my stay but what I did get to see was of beautiful rolling fields and hedgerows full of wildlife, I also got to see Pendine and Saundersfoot beaches and Manor House Wildlife Park. I did miss Bulgaria, my wife had stayed behind with our dog and had even got a new puppy while I was away, I was reminded of the hot weather I had left behind, I couldnt believe how dull the Welsh weather was during my stay. But my three months was completed and I learnt all I could and now have my levels one and two in Aviculture. Below are some pictures taken whilst I was there.
